DECAPITATED - Studio Update #4

The sound we've worked out for the bass recording is huge, nasty, and crushing. Thanks to this, we've come up with a couple of arrangements where the bass comes out of the background and plays the major part. I must admit that, with his old school approach, Arek "Malta" Malczewski has fit well in the concept of this album. His choice of instrument levels was superb - it all sounds mighty yet there's no mutual interference. The bass recording took us three days plus an extra day for sound search. After much deliberation and testing different solutions, we chose a configuration of two amps: a tube Ampeg SVT Classic and a transistor B4R, one of which had huge distortion. I should add that we did not use any line signals and all the signals come from microphones, which recently has been a rarity as far as bass recording goes in metal music. Taking into account the no compromise approach of Vogg and Malta, it has been undoubtedly the hardest and the most advanced session I have ever participated in. Tracking lasted from the beginning of a song to its end; "copying and pasting" any parts was out of the question. Due to this, the session was much more demanding and time-consuming, but the final effect is the music sounding more lively and natural. Everything has been recorded using instruments only; it's awesome without all of these digital fireworks - advanced editions, plastic drums, pasted riffs, etc. It reeks of the old metal spirit. There 's proper metal groove and speed but also a specific vibe which adds up to what this type of music is all about.

DECAPITATEDs fünftes Studio Album wird von Wacek Kieltyka und Sound Engineered Malta Arkadiusz Malczewski produziert. Die Drums wurden mit Daniel Bergstrand (BEHEMOTH, MESHUGGAH, DIMMU BORGIR, KEEP OF KALESSIN) aufgenommen. Bergstrand übernimmt außerdem auch den Mix!
