Nuclear Blast haben die drei Gewinner des MySpace Band Contests, der von Mai bis Oktober 2008 stattfand, bekanntgeben. Hier die Pressemitteilung:
Es gab insgesamt über 3000 Bewerber und wir möchten ALLEN BANDS danken, die an diesem Contest Teilgenommen haben! Ohne Euch wäre das nicht möglich gewesen!
An all jene, die nicht gewonnen haben – gebt nicht auf! Auch Ihr werdet früher oder spätter einen Labeldeal ergattern!
Wir wünschen Euch viel Erfolg dabei, den richtigen Stall für Eure Band zu finden!
Letzte Woche haben wir bereits den ersten Platz des MySpace Band Contests mitgeteilt: BLACKGUARD! Eine junge und sehr talentierte band aus Quebec / Kanada, die allen Fans von Bands wie WINTERSUN, FINNTROLL, ENSIFERUM, KORPIKLAANI und CHILRDEN OF BODOM (allerdings mit aggressiveren Vocals) gefallen wird! Die Band hat sich mit ihren grandiosen Live-Shows bereits einen Namen in der kanadischen Szene machen können und wird das Paganfest in den USA spielen!

Nummer 2 des Contests sind SWASHBUCKLE aus New Jersey!
SWASHBUCKLE haben uns nicht nur mit ihrem großartigen Thrash/Punk-Crossover imponiert (man stelle sich eine Mischung zwischen EXODUS, ANTHRAX, SOD, SLAYER und RUNNING WILD vor), sondern auch mit ihrem Image. SWASHBUCKLE sind die erste Pirate Metal Band überhaupt auf Nuclear Blast! Fluch der Karibik auf Metal! Sie sehen aus wie Piraten und singen Piraten-Lieder – die perfekte Band für jede Party und jedes Metal Festival! Die Band erfährt in den USA gerade einen riesigen Schub und wir sind sicher, dass sobald das Album erschienen ist, wird das auch in Europa und dem Rest der Welt der Fall sein! Haltet Ausschau nach der Jolly Roger-Fahne in Eurer Umgebung!
Ihr neues Album wurde von GUNS N’ ROSES-Gitarrist Bumblefoot produziert und wird definitiv für frische Seeluft in der Szene sorgen! SWASHBUCKLE spielen ebenfalls auf dem Paganfest USA!

Since then we've done shows together, I played on their album, had them on my album and as my live band. These guys are local heroes, it's great to see them getting out there. AUGURY sind eine Band für all jene, die ihren Metal gerne richtig progressive genießen! NECROPHAGIST trifft auf DREAM THEATER und OPETH sowie eine ganze Palette an weiteren Einflüssen! Ihr solltet Euch das unfassbare Bassspiel von Forest anhören!! Ihr neues Album wurde von JF Dagenais von KATAKLYSM produziert und enthält die wohl abwechslungsreichste Musik, die man in langer Zeit hören wird. Aus Kanada kommen einige sehr gute technische und progressive Bands und AUGURY sind ein Paradebeispiel dafür! Die Songs, die sie auf MySpace online gestellt haben, haben uns umgeblasen und es gab für uns nichts logischeres, als sie zu signen!
