SYSTEM OF A DOWN Gitarrist Daron Malakian hat sich in einem Interview über die kreative Auszeit der Band unterhalten. Er wisse, dass einige Fans mit der Entscheidung im Anschluss an das Ozzfest erstmal zu pausieren nicht gerade froh sind, betont jedoch die Notwendigkeit des Vorhabens um frisch zu bleiben.
"I know a lot of people get into bands and stuff, but you've gotta remember inside the bands there's artists, and there's itches and things that you wanna get done, or have some kind of freshness in your life.." "So it's never been about, like, 'Hey, let's consistently shoot out SYSTEM records and make the biggest money in the world,' you know what I mean? For us, it's more about being creative and being able to be creative.'"
Malakian hat einen neue Band namens SCARS ON BROADWAY formmiert und mächte noch diesen Herbs an einem Debütalbum arbeiten. SOAD Bassist Shavo Odadjian wird wohl ebenfalls teil der Band sein.
