Never Face Defeat - Remember Your Heartbeat

Is this Hatebreed's Perseverance album? That's certainly the impression you get on sticking on this album. Make no mistake about it, this is HEAVY. This is the type of HC influenced metal that has become so popular these days. However unlike most of their European counterparts, they don't blatantly rip off their influences and whilst you can hear Hatebreed, Merauder influences here, they remarkably manage somehow to create an album that is totally their own. In fact its a miracle that these guys even got a record out and are still together seeing as how they were on the verge of extinction when guitar player Karl Brol got involved in a serious car accident around the summer of 2001. However after taking a good year and a half off waiting for Karl to recover, in true HC fashion NFD refused to die and like the proverbial Phoenix rising from the ashes, got back out on tour and into the recording studio to record this five track promo effort. On listening to this you can feel a real sense of rejuvenation and determination on overcoming what was very nearly a potential tragedy. For this these guys must be applauded. A good comeback.
