Interview mit Skarhead

01.01.1998

Alright, this one's our Skarhead interview... writing the interview I didn't know those guys personally and I only knew their lyrics, so I was kind of sceptical about them. If you wanna read something about Ezec beating up Dwid you're wrong because this one was done before they clashed...

Ploedi:

Alright, if you'd first introduce yourself...

Mike:

I'm Boston Mike.

Ezec:

I'm Ezec.

Ploedi:

Reading your lyrics you guy label yourself being a DMS band and stuff, what do you think in general about labelling?

Mike:

Truly I wouldn't label anybody, well we got labels but I think just anybody goes for his. If your Straight Edge or a fucking Junkie I don't care. Just do your thing. As long as you have a good time doing it.

Ezec:

Just for instance Earth Crisis my men, I love them. He believes what he does so good for him.. If he believes in being drunk, everything's good. (Big laughter in the room)

Ploedi:

Could you please explain the lyrics of the big payback?

Ezec:

The songs about one guy, a Straight Edge kid who was our tourmanager and he robbed us. The thing is we say "you're Straight Edge and you robbed us
So you can't be Straight Edge anymore". It's just on him personally!. We have absolutely no problems with Straight Edge.

Ploedi:

Reading the booklet there are actually lot's of people involved in the Songwriting...Singer D is writing most of the lyrics and you sing them.

Ezec:

Most of the songs are written by me but I used a different name.

Ploedi:

Do see any differences between the scenes in the USA and Europe?

Ezec:

Kids are nicer here. They are more political over here. But there is a lot of politics in the States, too but we just don't care about it. We are really cool with everyone as long as he's cool with us.

Ploedi:

What about fights at shows? I heard that there aren't any Hardcore shows at CBGB's in NY because of fights. What do you think actually? Your lyrics are lot's about fighting, too.

Ezec:

Well our lyrics are about what we used to do but most of it is just fantasy, story we don't go up stamm people in the face, stupid stuff like that. It's all like a story you know, it's like an act. Like some stuff is true but some stuff is like fantasy.
It's an outlet, our music is hard and we talk abour some hard stuff. Actually when we played I only remember 3 fights. Actually there is no violence like Sick Of It All comes over there and say there is violence they aren't playing in my scene like Craig is one of my best friends
but their management wouldn't let them play with us and I don't know...there is no fighting at all.

Ploedi:

What do you think of the Vienna DMS scene?

Ezec:

What? Never heard of that....

Ploedi:

What do you think about Gulliani?

Ezec:

He sucks I hate him, down with Gulliani... He was from my neighbourhood where I grew up. I guess he does a good job that's why people hate him if you are a criminal you gotta hate him.

Ploedi:

In Germany he's getting pretty good press.

Ezec:

Yeah, he'll be president one day.

Ploedi:

What up with you in the future?

Ezec:

We'll try to get on a better label, make money you know MTV superstar, girls, limos, beer, drugs, more drugs *laughs*

Ploedi:

Some final words?

Ezec:

Thanks for the support. Every show in Europe was amazing. We just wanna tell the kids thank you for coming out please continue. We'll always gonna be who we are so if you see us in an MTV video just come out and buy our records *laughs*.

Mike:

Same thing...Just keep listening and looking out.

Goat:

Support your own scene and support all the US bands coming over.

Ezec:

Support your own scenes. The bands you come from should be your first priority bands.

Goat:

and sing in German.

Ezec:

yeah sing in Germany that would be hard like Rammstein. A lot of people are too much into New York, too much into USA. Be proud on where you are from. A lot of the Bands over here are good too like Rykers, Sidekick.

Well the only thing I can say on this one: Don't take this too serious.......Actually they were very nice and stuff on the other side they also said a lot shit during the interview, the two shows I saw were really great...
