Roadrunner Records verkünden den Vertragsabschluss mit den britischen Rockern THE CULT. Das neue Studioalbum – das Erste seit 2001 – wird im Moment in London mit Produzent Youth (Verve, Primal Scream) aufgenommen. Aller Voraussicht nach wird das Album im September veröffentlicht, in Verbindung mit dem bandeigenen Imprint Label New Wilderness.
THE CULT, angeführt von den Gründungsmitgliedern Sänger Ian Astbury und Gitarrist Billy Duffy, werden sich ab dem 5. Juni mit der Rock Legende The Who auf große Stadiontour durch Europa begeben. Die Band wird hier und da noch einige Headlinershows und Festivalauftritte absolvieren um an den Erfolg ihrer ausverkauften 2006-er Welttournee anzuknüpfen.
“We have always dreamed of finding a label that allows us artistic freedom and has the muscle to get the music to the people,” sagt Astbury. “At the heart of this recording is an urban directness of savage rawness and an earnestness that is the center of any great rock and roll band.”
