THE OCEAN aus Berlin haben ein Update veröffentlicht, in welchem sie ihren neuen Sänger vorstellen und gleichzeitig darüber berichten, wie es mit dem Nachfolger von "Precambrian" (2007) aussieht.
Nach vielen Wochen der Ungewissheit, haben THE OCEAN endlich einen neuen Sänger gefunden. "We are happy to announce Mr. Loïc Rossetti as our new vocalist. We are looking forward to weeks and months of intense touring in the future and a new era in the story of our lives!", berichtet Gitarrist Robin Staps.
"Having Loïc in the band enables me to do what I've always wanted to do with this band. His voice is strong and expressive and his variety of tone and the ease with which he switches between different vocal styles really amazing. There are no limits anymore. His screams are devastating, but his most valuable quality is his singing voice, which we will employ much more on the upcoming album."
Loïc Rossetti: "Being part of The Ocean is a great honour for me. I can utilize the full spectre of my voice, and the band is pushing me to do so…it's a great challenge."
Im Laufe der vergangenen 6 Monate hat die Band über 150 Bewerbungen von Sängern aus der ganzen Welt erhalten. "Many have recorded vocals for 'The City in the Sea' and there was a lot of good stuff coming in. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to try out, we truly appreciate it!" meint Jonathan Nido dazu.
Die Line-Up Erweiterung um Rossetti markiert gemäß Label den letzten Schritt in der Entwicklung zu einer vollwertigen Band. Nach acht Jahren Existenz haben sich THE OCEAN von einem Kollektiv in eine Band verwandelt. Was allerdings nicht bedeutet, dass Line-Up Wechsel in der Zukunft kategorisch ausgeschlossen werden können: "I have been playing music long enough to know that people are usually in this for a limited time", meint Staps dazu, "but the people I am working with now are the people I have always been looking for, and naturally, everyone else is much more involved than ever before."
Das Collective ist keinesfalls tot. Tatsächlich enthält das anstehende neue Album die größte Anzahl an Gastmusikern überhaupt, zumeist klassische Musiker. Die Band hat den Großteil des Jahres damit verbracht, die beiden neuen Alben zu komponieren und einzuspielen – mit Veröffentlichungen ist für März und September 2010 zu rechnen.
