NAOP - Hard To Deny

Apparently these guys have been around for 16 years, which would definitely qualify them as veterans of the European HC scene! Listening to this you would never have guessed that these boys were from Holland, you would have thought they came straight from Brooklyn, New York. Looking at their picture on the sleevenotes of the CD they even look like New Yorkers with their Tattoos and tough guy poses. Yep, this isn’t metalcore, emo or thrash, but just straight up old school HC punk, New York style! The songs are what you would expect from any HC band, really simple and short. This is no Avenged Sevenfold. The problem with this however is that this shows a complete lack of originality not just image wise and musically, but lyrically as well. Lyrics such as ‘Live live your own way’ and ‘I just won’t conform’ which to be honest have already been done a thousand times before by infinitely better bands like Warzone, Agnostic Front, Madball and even a touch of The Exploited. You would think that after 16 years they’d find a voice of their own and some sort of musical growth. As far as HC albums go this was a good one, but not anything that I haven’t heard a million times before.
